PLEASE READ THIS: Media mail is the least expensive way to ship in the US, but it does not include any insurance, and I do not purchase insurance. So, if the book is damaged, there is no replacement and you cannot get a refund from USPS. Also, it is the slowest way to ship.

Do you live in Australia or New Zealand? The US Postal Service is not making deliveries to Australia and New Zealand right now due to COVID-related restrictions. UPS and DHL are. Please use one of these two services for shipping.

My first book, 52 Boxes in 52 Weeks, was about learning to design boxes. My newest book, Build Better Boxes, is about how I make boxes. There are 10 boxes in this book, and I show you how to make them. There are measured drawings for each box, and step-by-step instructions. Read through the chapters and you’ll learn how I cut miters (and spline them when the mood strikes me). Dovetails, rabbets, and fingerjoints are covered as well. There's some talk about milling, too, and how to create box sides that have grain flowing continuously around all for corners. Some of the boxes have drawers and look an awful lot like what most folks call furniture, so you can learn how to make and fit a drawer, and techniques for case construction. I often use veneer (both shop-made and store-bought) when making boxes, so I show you how I glue it to plywood to make lids and bottoms, and how to hide those nasty plywood edges with milk paint. Many of my boxes are lined with fabric or paper, and I cover my techniques for working with them as well. All of the boxes are finished with shellac, so there’s a demonstration of how I apply it.

This is a hardcover version of the book, and you can get it only through my website. The book comes signed by me and with a MEK Woodworks sticker. As a way of saying thank you to everyone that purchases a hardcover copy, I am giving away three boxes to three randomly selected people who have bought the book. Each box will be one from the book (and I get to choose which ones!).
