For a long time, I have used the guide blocks that I sell to make kumiko. However, I could never keep any in the shop, because they always ended up being shipped out to fulfill an order. So, I decided to make myself some blocks that I wouldn't sell. They are identical to the standard blocks, but are made from cherry. I have also painted the engraved logo and degree markers white and oiled them so that they white really pops. The stops are a little different, too, but function exactly the same. The screws are black rather than silver. The blocks, I think, are pretty sharp.
Of course, when I shared them on social media, folks said they wanted some, too. I'm happy to make sets for sale. Unlike the standard blocks, these cherry blocks are made to order and made by me personally, so they do not ship immediately. There are two options.
The asa-no-ha kit. You get two guide blocks. One block has 45º and 67.5º guides surfaces. The other has 22.5º and 67.5º guide surfaces. This pair of blocks is what you need to make the asa-no-ha pattern in a square frame.
The multi-pattern kit. In addition to the two asa-no-ha blocks, you also get a block with 30º and 60º guide surfaces and one with a 15º guide surface. These two blocks allow you to make a wide range of patterns in square frames, and the 30º/60º block is great for patterns in hexagonal frames.
